Odessa, TX — July 20, 2024, four people were injured following a car accident that happened around 10:00 p.m. on East 52nd Street.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened on eastbound lanes of 52nd Street in the area of Dawn Avenue.
According to officials, four people, ages 29 to 18, were in a Jeep Cherokee going along 52nd Street. The vehicle somehow left the roadway where it crashed into a parked vehicle. The 18-year-old and a 19-year-old in the vehicle reportedly had serious injuries. Two others had reportedly less serious injuries.

While details aren’t confirmed right now, authorities mentioned looking into alcohol as a possible factor. It’s possible authorities just brought this up because it’s standard procedure for them to investigate alcohol. When it is a factor, though, it can make situations like this rather complex. For example, if an alcohol provider over-serves someone, and it leads to them getting themselves or someone else hurt, that provider can be responsible for a resulting crash. Could it be that happened here? Like I said, it’s not clear right now, but it’s important t make sure that’s something investigators are at least able to rule out.
