Accident Report
March 9, 2026, two people were injured due to a car accident at approximately 4:30 a.m. along North Street (I-10 service road).
According to authorities, two men—a 27-year-old driver and a 26-year-old passenger—were occupants of a Chevrolet Malibu that, for unknown reasons, was at a stop with its lights of in the active lane of traffic on North Street in the vicinity west of the Doty Road intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that a collision occurred between the rear-end of the Malibu and the front-end of a Toyota Camry.
Both men from the Malibu reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Most people will be quick to blame the driver of the Malibu for what happened in this accident just because they assume that the vehicle was purposely parked with its lights off in an active lane of traffic. I’m not about to jump to that conclusion, though, because there are so many details that we just don’t know. After over thirty years in this line of business, I’ve learned the prudence of waiting until the investigation is complete and their findings have been made public.
Is it not possible, after all, that the reason the Malibu was parked there was not due to the decision of the driver, but because it had somehow become disabled? It is certainly not outside of the realm of possibilities that the Malibu was experiencing some mechanical or electrical malfunctions that made it impossible for the driver to move it to a safer location.
Hopefully, investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the Malibu by a trained professional in a laboratory setting. That way, any causes of the accident that might otherwise have flown under the radar can be brought to light. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve a clear and detailed understanding of not only how it occurred, but why.
