Grayson County, TX — August 30, 2024, three minors were killed following a multi-vehicle car accident just before 7:30 p.m. along U.S. Highway 69.

According to authorities, a 40-year-old man and three children ages ten, thirteen, and fourteen were traveling in a southbound Hyundai Elantra on U.S. Highway 69 when the accident took place.

Traffic in the area at the time was reportedly slowing. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Elantra failed to slow for the traffic conditions. It reportedly veered to the right shoulder in order to avoid a collision with the vehicles ahead. However, as it attempted to reenter traffic, it was apparently collided with a southbound Ford F-150. Reports state that the Elantra then continued into the northbound lane of the highway where it was involved in a secondary collision with an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

All three of the juveniles in the Elantra suffered fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
