Accident Report
February 18, 2026, four people were injured due to a car accident at around 6:30 p.m. along Farm-to-Market 27.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened just west of Fairfield off the corner of FM 27 and County Road 1259.
It appears that a 44-year-old man was in a Ford F-150 going northwest. A Nissan Altima was going the same direction. For reasons unconfirmed, the vehicles collided.
As a result of the crash, the 39-year-old woman driving the Nissan and an 18-year-old passenger had serious injuries. A child in the Nissan reportedly had moderate injuries, as did the man driving the Ford. Right now, additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When vehicles are going the same direction and they collide, the most common factor is that someone failed slow down. This typically means cellphone use, unsafe speeds, or following too closely. But those are just the common factors.
One of the most frustrating things I encounter is when authorities only look at the common factors and ignore less common possible factors. Those need to at least be ruled out, both to ensure nothing unusual happened and to make sure there’s as little room as possible for insurance companies to shift the blame. If people are going to get the answers and the help they deserve, they need to know that all possibilities have been thoroughly explored.
