UPDATE (January 12, 2024): Reports have been released which clarify what happened during this incident. 18-year-old Caleb Vogtlin was reportedly traveling on an eastbound motorcycle on Loop 1604 taking an exit onto the Loop 1604 access road when the accident occurred. Officials indicate that the motorcycle may have been traveling at high speeds. For reasons yet to be confirmed, the motorcycle veered off of the right side of the exit ramp where it collided with a road sign. It then allegedly continued in a southeast trajectory across the median and both lanes of the access road before colliding with a fence in a grassy shoulder on the south side of the access road where Vogtlin was ejected from the motorcycle. Vogtlin was reportedly still alive and in critical condition upon arrival of emergency personnel, but ultimately succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident.

Preliminary reports indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the motorcycle hit a concrete median and a street sign, ejecting Vogtlin from the vehicle. He incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the crash, having been declared deceased at the scene.
The cause of the accident is under active investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area were not specifically reported on; however, photographs of the scene which have been published in the news depict apparently dry roads.
