Las Vegas, NV — January 19, 2025, one person was killed following an SUV versus bus accident at approximately 1:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 11.
According to authorities, the accident took place on the ramp heading from I.H. 11 northbound the I.H. 215 northbound.
Details surrounding the wreck remain scarce. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a collision took place between the rear-end of a private passenger bus and the front-end of an SUV. One man who had been involved suffered reportedly fatal injuries over the course of the accident. No other injuries have yet been reported. One critical avenue of inquiry in this case is whether the bus was safely and properly operating at the time of the crash. Did the bus driver follow proper protocols for lane usage and speed? Was the bus stopped or traveling unusually slowly, and if so, were there sufficient warnings to alert other drivers? Private passenger buses are held to strict safety standards, and any failure in their operations—whether due to driver error or mechanical issues—could have played a role in the collision.
Similarly, the condition and maintenance of the bus itself are key factors to examine. Were all required lights, reflectors, and other visibility-enhancing measures in good working order and clearly visible?
