Bryan Heath Miller Killed in 18-wheeler Accident in Frio County, TX

Investigators said in their statements that 57-year-old Bryan Heath Miller was in a Kenworth tractor-trailer and stopped on the shoulder with hazard lights activated. Miller was outside of the truck at the time when another northbound 18-wheeler apparently left its lane and sideswiped Miller’s 18-wheeler. Miller was hit in the process, resulting in fatal injuries. The other truck reportedly left the scene.

Have authorities been able to identify the truck driver since their initial investigations? I’d hate to think someone responsible for all of this was still out there, especially if they’re continuing to operate as a commercial truck driver. If authorities have yet to make progress, they could release more information to the public in hopes someone can connect the dots. That’s often an effective way to solve hit-and-runs.

I had a case a while back, for example, involving a hit-and-run 18-wheeler. That truck caused a fatal crash, then fled the scene, and authorities essentially felt they had no way of finding the driver. Well, we started putting out details in the media, and eventually an eye witness came forward. They had actually seen the crash, followed the truck, and wrote down the truck’s information before nearly being run off the road when the truck driver realized he was being followed. The witness went to the authorities with their information, but somehow the investigating officer let all of that slip through the cracks. Thanks to our continued efforts, though, the runaway driver was identified.

One would hope it wouldn’t take all of that to get a deadly hit-and-run like this the attention it deserves. Unfortunately, there are many times where victims and families are left out in the wind with questions that authorities simply aren’t looking to answer. Hopefully that’s not true here, and hopefully authorities are continuing to give the accident thorough attention to find out who was involved here so they can face the appropriate consequences.
