Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With single-vehicle wrecks, one of my main concerns is just if investigations are being handled properly. Authorities don’t often prioritize this sort of accident. As a result, if officers aren’t given the proper tools or time to do their jobs, they can easily jump to false conclusions or otherwise miss important details. Did a tire blowout? Were there issues with the roadway? Did the victim’s vehicle have a defect? Did airbags and seatbelts function properly? Even unusual potential factors like these need attention to ensure nothing slips through the cracks. It might surprise folks to know just how often people call me because authorities failed to ask these questions and ended up with inaccurate investigations. It’s prudent to take any measures possible to prevent that, even if it ends up just being an abundance of caution.
