Martin County, TX — July 31, 2023, Brolyn Chavez was killed and Christopher Cardona, Chris Gomez, and Jessica Postlewait were hurt in a car accident on Highway 349.
Authorities said in their initial statements that the incident happened at approximately 6:24 a.m. along the highway about 12 miles north of Midland.
Texas DPS officials said in reports that 30-year-old Christopher Cardona and 28-year-old Chris Gomez were in a pickup going southbound along the highway. 30-year-old Jessica Postlewait and 19-year-old Brolyn Chavez were in a separate pickup which was also going southbound. For reasons unconfirmed at this time, the vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision.
As a result of the crash, Chavez sustained injuries which ultimately proved to be fatal. Cardona, Gomez, and Postlewait all had injuries which authorities left them in stable conditions. Currently, additional details are pending further investigations.
