Genesee County, NY — June 7, 2023, Brett Decker was killed as the result of a dump truck accident early Wednesday along the New York State Thruway.
Details released by authorities indicate that the incident took place in the Pembroke area near Exit 48 along the westbound lanes of the Thruway.
According to officials, 45-year-old Brett Decker was doing work as a site inspector along the Thruway for Patriot Engineering & Surveying. While working, it appears that a dump truck at the site was backing up and did not see Decker. As a result, the truck rolled over Decker.
As a result of the collision, Decker succumbed to fatal injuries. There were no other injuries mentioned in reports. Details about the company in charge of the work site are not clear right now. Authorities continue their investigations into the factors surrounding the accident and how it could have been avoided.
