Braulio Frias Alleged Drunk Driver Accident in Hudspeth County, TX

Investigators said that 41-year-old Braulio Frias was in a Chevy pickup traveling along I-10. While Frias was in the left lane, a BMW crashed into the back of Frias’s vehicle. As a result, Frias sustained serious injuries. The other driver wasn’t injured.

Authorities allege that the BMW driver was under the influence of alcohol and tested around twice the legal limit. That driver was recommended to face a charge for intoxication assault. If that allegation is true, the story may not be over until investigators find out where the driver got their alcohol. In Texas, when alcohol providers serve someone who is obviously intoxicated, they can face criminal investigations, fines, license suspension, and liability for resulting injuries.

Unfortunately, this is something that often slips through the cracks. Authorities understandably work to see the drunk drivers held accountable for their actions. But if that’s where their efforts end, it lets a negligent alcohol provider off the hook so they can continue being reckless until more people get hurt. I can’t count how many times across hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers our firm was the one doing the investigations and putting the establishments on the authorities’ radar. Maybe authorities here are being more thorough and will ensure all responsible parties are held accountable for their actions. In my experience, though, that’s not something to take for granted.
