Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With motorcycle wrecks, one of the biggest challenges is convincing folks that it’s possible this all was just an unfortunate, unavoidable accident. I’ve worked with many riders and their families over the years, and many are very safe drivers. But people tend to just assume all motorcyclists are reckless daredevils. It’s possible to overcome this bias—I’ve had to do so plenty. It’s just that it requires a lot of clear evidence of what really happened, and it has to be presented properly to make sure there’s no room for anyone to fill in the gaps with their own negative assumptions. Regardless of what led to this accident, my hope is investigators have at least taken things seriously and set any bias aside so that the evidence can speak for itself.
