Baton Rouge, LA — September 15, 2025, a boy on a bicycle was killed due to an 18-wheeler accident around 7:40 p.m. along Lindale Avenue.
Preliminary statements about the accident say that it happened just off the Lindale Avenue and Airline Highway intersection.
Current statements on the crash say that a 7-year-old boy was along Lindale at the time on a bicycle. While there, due to factors unclear, an 18-wheeler reportedly struck the child. As a result, the child was killed.
In reports, it seems authorities initially thought the 18-wheeler fled the scene, but it was reportedly a block away near Cottondale Drive and Delcourt Avenue. Authorities said the driver was “in custody,” but it’s unclear right now if the truck driver will face charges.

Details are all pretty mixed up right now, but the reports saying authorities detained this truck driver stood out to me.
In my experience, it’s unusual for officers to detain drivers when they’re sure about what’s going on. I can’t help but wonder if detaining the driver was just a misunderstanding or if there’s more to this story than initial reports are letting on.
Whatever ultimately happened here, I just hope the family affected can get the answers they deserve to make sense of all this.
