Cherokee County, TX — December 16, 2024, Bonnie Moore was killed and another person was injured in a truck accident shortly before 5:45 p.m. along Cumming Highway.
According to authorities, 81-year-old Bonnie Moore was a passenger in an eastbound Lexus on Cumming Highway (S.H. 20) at the Soleil Boulevard intersection when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, as the Lexus made a left turn, it was involved in a collision with a westbound 18-wheeler. Moore suffered fatal injuries over the course of the accident according to reports. The person who had been behind the wheel of the Lexus sustained injuries, as well, though they were apparently non-life-threatening; they were transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. What could have caused the collision between the Lexus and the 18-wheeler? Was the driver of the passenger vehicle unaware of the truck’s approach, or did they misjudge the truck’s speed or distance? Was the truck driver traveling too fast for conditions, distracted, or otherwise unable to react in time to avoid the crash? These questions must be thoroughly investigated to determine how and why the vehicles ended up in one another’s path.
