It’s always important with single-vehicle wrecks to keep in mind just how much attention authorities gave the investigations. It might surprise folks to see how often independent investigations show authorities overlooked something important or outright got things wrong.
What about other possible extenuating circumstances? Was there something in the road? Did a tire blow out? Was someone illegally over-served by a bar? Did the vehicle have some sort of defect the driver wasn’t aware of? Police investigations rarely look into those factors, and they can easily slip through the cracks unless someone is there to fill in the gaps. It’s not clear right now if those precautions were taken here.
