Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the accident, but they mentioned alcohol as a possible factor. Frankly, it would be irresponsible not to consider alcohol after a crash like this. If it’s true a vehicle was driving on the wrong side of the road, that’s almost always the result of intoxicated drivers.
In fact, I’ve handled hundreds of cases involving drivers who were unlawfully over-served by alcohol providers. The ones who were on the wrong side of the road were some of the most egregious examples I can recall of people being recklessly over-served to the point of extreme intoxication. All that said, there could be other factors involved here, but that’s going to be up to the evidence to say. My point is simply that it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising if the authorities did find that alcohol led to this accident.
