Bexar County, TX — May 10, 2024, Bartolo Cabrera was killed as the result of a commercial truck accident at around 9:00 a.m. on Loop 1604.
Authorities say that the collision took place southeast of San Antonio in the area of the S.E. Loop 1604 and Schultz Road intersection.
According to officials, 19-year-old Bartolo Cabrera was in a GMC Acadia said to be going southbound on Loop 1604. Somehow, the GMC and an oncoming Volvo commercial truck collided. Due to this, Cabrera was killed. The driver of the truck reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries. Currently, the cause of the crash cannot be confirmed.

It remains to be seen if authorities ever made progress in their investigations behind the scenes. People don’t always realize just how complex a serious truck wreck can become. It’s not always just about looking into things like speed or cell phone usage. Is this a dangerous stretch of road? Was there missing signage or lighting? Did a vehicle experience a mechanical failure due to a defect? Was someone illegally over-served by an alcohol provider? Did a medical condition play a role in the crash? Did safety features, like airbags and seatbelts, function properly? Likely or not, an accident reconstruction needs to be able to confirm or rule out these kinds of details, otherwise, families are bound to be left with unanswered questions in a time when they most deserve some sense of clarity.
