Collin County, TX — July 30, 2024, Barbara Hayes was injured following a single-vehicle car accident at approximately 9:15 p.m. along U.S. Highway 75.
According to authorities, 44-year-old Barbara Hayes was traveling in a northbound Mazda on North Central Expressway at Legacy Drive when the accident took place.
The Mazda was apparently attempting to take the left fork in order to bypass the traffic light. However, officials state that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Mazda failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reported. veered left, entering the grassy median before striking a light pole. It then continued on until finally coming to a stop after colliding with a support pillar underneath an overpass.
Hayes suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident. She was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

When a serious crash occurs, especially one involving a vehicle striking multiple fixed objects, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure a thorough investigation. In my experience, getting to the root of a wreck like this means focusing on three key areas: Did authorities conduct a thorough investigation? Has anyone considered whether mechanical issues or other external factors played a role? And has all available electronic data been collected?
Law enforcement will typically document the scene, but their reports don’t always capture every factor that could have contributed. Did they examine whether roadway design played a role in why the Mazda left its lane? Was there a mechanical issue, such as a steering failure or tire blowout, that led to the vehicle veering off course? And was there construction, debris, or another external factor that contributed to the crash? These are important details that can help clarify what happened.
Mechanical issues should also be considered. If the Mazda suffered brake failure or a loss of steering control, that could explain why it traveled off the roadway and struck multiple objects before coming to a stop. A full mechanical inspection would be needed to determine whether a vehicle defect played a role.
Another critical factor is electronic data.
