Azucena Serrano Alleged Hit-and-run Accident in Harris County, TX

It appears that 22-year-old Azucena Serrano was in a Lincoln Mark MKS going northbound on Kuykendahl. At Country Pines, authorities say a southbound Dodge Ram failed to yield making a left turn, crashing into Serrano’s vehicle. As a result, Serrano and a toddler in the Lincoln had injuries. It’s unclear if anyone in the Dodge was hurt.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Harris County officials say that the Dodge driver failed to stop and render aid, but it appears authorities have an individual facing charges for that. If that’s true, did they find out why the driver fled? It’s not often someone leaves an accident scene just due to panic over the collision. More often, there’s something specific they don’t want authorities to find out about. Were they driving drunk? Did they have warrants? Did they have something in their possession they shouldn’t have? At the end of the day, any and all factors that led to all of this warrants attention. In my experience, a charge simply for leaving an accident scene (though important) rarely addresses all of the issues.
