Fort Bend County, TX — July 2, 2024, Austin Rodriguez was killed following a motorcycle versus car accident that happened around 3:17 a.m. along Highway 6.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened in the area of the Highway 6 and Westenfeldt Road intersection.
Investigators said that 21-year-old Austin Alexander Rodriguez was on a Yamaha motorcycle going southeast along the highway. The motorcycle reportedly collided with a Honda Accord going the same direction.
Austin Rodriguez sustained fatal injuries due to the accident. Right now, further information about the crash remains unconfirmed.

I have to wonder if this accident ever got the attention it deserved. To be clear, I don’t say that because of anything specific in these initial details. Rather, any crash involving a young driver on a motorcycle is going to cause all kinds of rushed conclusions. The problem is when authorities are the ones jumping to those conclusions. Sometimes, they can set that bias aside and let the evidence speak for itself. Too often, though, that requires more thorough independent investigations. It remains to be seen what kind of investigation this crash got.
