According to officials, 31-year-old Ashley Ann Wilson was in a Kia Forte going northbound on R.M. 1826. Authorities say it’s possible defective or slick tires led to the vehicle going off the right side of the road. There, it crashed into Slaughter Creek. Wilson reportedly had serious injuries as a result. Right now, no additional details can be confirmed.

Frankly, I’d be rather surprised if authorities actually properly investigated these possibly defective tires. That isn’t the sort of thing officers are typically trained or equipped to handle. Defects usually have to be ruled out or confirmed through rigorous investigations from independent accident reconstructionists who have appropriate tools and knowledge for something so complex. Otherwise, there’s no telling what crucial details might slip through the cracks. The concern is that may have happened here if the details were never put in the hands of investigators who actually knew what they were looking for.
