UPDATE (June 20, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify what happened during this accident. It was originally thought that this accident was due to a vehicle driving in the wrong direction on the roadway; however, according to these reports, a northbound Lincoln occupied by a 32-year-old man on Research Boulevard reportedly neglected to stop for the red light indicated by the traffic signal, entering the intersection at an apparently unsafe time. This resulted in a collision between the Lincoln and a GMC Acadia occupied by two adults and three children which was eastbound on Braker Lane attempting to make a left turn to head northbound on Research Boulevard. The investigation is still ongoing.
UPDATE (June 3, 2024): The woman who lost her life as a result of this accident has been identified as 32-year-old Ashlee Marie Pegram.
Austin, TX — May 27, 2024, one person was killed and four others were injured in a car accident shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Research Boulevard.
According to authorities, a motor vehicle may have been traveling on the wrong side of the roadway near the Research Boulevard northbound service road and West Braker Lane intersection when the accident took place.

Reports state that a collision followed between the allegedly wrong-way vehicle and a second vehicle occupied by five people, three of whom were apparently children. One woman suffered fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. A man sustained reportedly life-threatening injuries and was flown to a local medical facility in order to receive immediate treatment. The one of the three children involved received severe injuries, while the other two suffered minor injuries, officials indicate; they were also transported to local medical facilities for treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
