Cleveland County, NC — August 1, 2023, Arlene Bulunda was fatally injured due to a commercial truck accident at around 5:00 a.m. along I-85.
Investigators said that the fatal incident happened along the southbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 32.
According to preliminary statements, Arlene Bulunda was in a vehicle that was traveling along the interstate and approaching traffic congestion due to a lane closure. As Bulunda slowed, authorities say that a tractor-trailer did not slow in time and crashed into the back of Bulunda’s vehicle.
As a result of the collision, Bulunda succumbed to fatal injuries. Three people in a Tesla which was also hit had injuries which were said to be non-life-threatening. No other injuries were reported. At this time, it appears the tractor-trailer driver will be facing a charge for misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Additional details are currently unavailable.
