Amarillo, TX — April 24, 2024, Archie Sharp was injured following an 18-wheeler accident at around 10:45 p.m. along Interstate 40.
According to initial details about the crash, it happened off eastbound lanes of the interstate near Airport Boulevard.

Investigators said that 33-year-old Archie Justin Sharp was on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle going along I-40. It appears an 18-wheeler changed lanes unsafely, hitting Sharp and causing the bike to lose control. The motorcycle was then hit by a pickup. The 18-wheeler reportedly left the scene.
As a result of the collision, Sharp sustained reportedly serious injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries. There’s no word right now on if authorities have located the runaway truck. If not, my hope is they’re continuing the pressure and keeping details in the public eye. That’s often an effective way of identifying a hit-and-run suspect.
I recall a case I had a while back with similar details to these. In that crash, though, authorities essentially felt the case was unsolvable. After the case came to us, we put details in local media hoping someone would come forward, and that’s exactly what happened. Apparently a couple witnessed the crash, followed the truck, and wrote down identifying information. They only stopped pursuit because the truck driver saw them and literally tried to run them off the road. The witnesses took this information to the authorities, but the investigating officer somehow lost their info and never followed up.
That’s why keeping details about hit-and-runs as public as possible is often a prudent step forward. Someone in the community may still be out there, ready to connect the dots so there can be accountability for all of this. If authorities have already moved on, though, then that burden of getting justice may fall to others more motivated than the authorities.
