Houston, TX — July 28, 2024, Antonio Sohom Tahay was fatally injured due to an alleged hit-and-run accident along South Gessner Road.
Details from Harris County officials say the incident happened along Gessner between Westpark Tollway and Bellaire Boulevard.
Preliminary statements indicate that Antonio Sohom Tahay was on foot at the time when it appears a vehicle struck Tahay, then fled the scene. Tahay was taken to a hospital where it appears he died on August 1. Following witness statements and securing video footage, authorities reportedly identified the runaway driver, who appears to be charged for failure to stop and render aid.

As important as it is for authorities to identify and hold accountable runaway drivers, it’s also important to find out why they fled. It’s rarely due simply to panic about the accident itself. Most of the time, there’s something specific they didn’t want police to know about, such as drunk driving, drugs, or warrants.
