Pecos County, TX — February 6, 2024, Anthony Lopez Jr. was killed and one other person was injured in a truck accident at around 7:15 p.m. along I.H. 10.
According to authorities, 32-year-old Anthony Lopez Jr. was traveling in a westbound Jeep Liberty on I.H. 10 in the vicinity west of State Highway 349 when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Jeep crossed over the center median and entered the eastbound lanes of the highway. This wrong-way situation resulted in a collision between the Jeep and an eastbound 18-wheeler. Lopez incurred reportedly fatal injuries due to the accident. The 56-year-old man who had been the sole occupant f the 18-wheeler sustained reportedly moderate injuries, as well. He was transported to an area medical facility in order to receive necessary treatment.
