Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

If evidence can verify what these initial reports say, I’m honestly shocked at what I’m reading. It’s not like drunk driving is a rarity here in Texas—the families I talk to on a near daily basis is proof enough that it’s all too common. But at just under four times the legal limit, it’s a wonder a driver can make it out of their parking spot, let alone into oncoming lanes. considering a lot of people may start to black out approaching two and a half times the legal limit, one can only wonder the lack of control someone at a .31 would have over their actions.

But that only makes me wonder where someone would drink that much alcohol so early in the afternoon. Could it be they were at a local establishment? Because if they were, that business most likely broke the law by over-serving the driver, and they, too, can face serious consequences for what happened here. It remains to be seen if authorities are looking into these possible issues and getting the victims and families involved the answers they deserve.
