Seagoville, TX — December 1, 2023, Angel Vega Perez was killed following a work accident that happened along Malloy Bridge Road.
According to initial details from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the accident occurred at 910 East Malloy Bridge Road.

Details surrounding the accident aren’t clear right now. OSHA statements say only that 20-year-old Angel Vega Perez was doing work at the location on a ladder. Somehow, Vega Perez fell from the ladder, resulting in fatal injuries. Details about other works possibly involved aren’t available right now. In the OSHA summary, there were three listed alleged violations, two of which were labeled as “serious.” At this time, no further information can be confirmed.

It might surprise people how often even families get as few details as what I’m seeing here. There’s this notion that OSHA is going to get all of the facts and get a victim’s loved ones a clear explanation of what happened. Frankly, that’s not their priority, so it’s sometimes left to the families to seek out their own answers.
To top things off, they then have to navigate what is hands down the most complex work fatality laws of any other state in the country. Simply put, Texas does not require employers to subscribe to the workers’ comp system, so there is not a guaranteed path for a family to get the benefits they deserve. Just like with getting the answers they need, it often comes down to whether a family has the tools and allies to navigate such a complex maze and get to the conclusion that’s best for them.
