Potter County, TX — September 10, 2024, Andrew Spring was killed and another was injured in a motorcycle versus car accident at 10:30 a.m. on Soncy Road.
According to authorities, 28-year-old Andrew Spring was traveling on a northbound motorcycle on Soncy Road at the Amarillo Boulevard intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southbound Mazda CX-9 occupied by a 68-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man attempted a left turn to head east on Amarillo Boulevard at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision between the right side of the Mazda and the front-end of the motorcycle. Spring reportedly suffered fatal injuries due to the collision. The man from the Mazda sustained serious injuries, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Based on my experience handling serious injury and fatal accident cases across Texas for more than 30 years, I know that it’s critical to look beyond surface-level explanations and ask deeper questions about what really happened.
One important question to consider is whether authorities have conducted a thorough investigation of the collision. It may seem clear that a driver’s unsafe left turn played a significant role, but officials sometimes stop short of collecting all relevant evidence. For example, have traffic light patterns been reviewed? Have witness statements been gathered and cross-verified? Was the scene fully documented with photographs and diagrams? Properly answering these kinds of questions is vital to understanding the full context of the wreck.
Another question that deserves attention is whether a mechanical defect could have contributed to the collision.
