Hall County, TX — December 21, 2023, Andres Santos was injured in a truck accident just after 2:00 p.m. along U.S. Highway 287.
According to reports, 77-year-old Andres Santos was traveling in a southeast bound Dodge Ram 1500 truck with a loaded flat bed trailer in tow along U.S. 287 in the vicinity northwest of the C.R. 645 intersection when the accident took place.
The pickup and trailer were allegedly traveling at slower speeds. Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, an 18-wheeler approaching the pickup from behind in the same lane failed to adequately control its speed; despite attempts made to swerve to the left and avoid a crash, the front right of the 18-wheeler reportedly collided with the pack left of the flatbed trailer. This collision caused the flat bed trailer to become detached and collide with the rear-end of the pickup truck. Parts of the detached trailer were allegedly launched through the back of the pickup, resulting in reportedly life-threatening injuries to Santos. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. No other injuries were reported.
