Jasper County, SC — March 27, 2023, Ana Pressley and Thomas Hillard were killed following a commercial truck accident at 8:40 a.m. on Highway 321.
Investigators said that the incident took place at the intersection of Highway 321 and Stiney Road/State Road S-27-104 outside of Hardeeville. It appears that 44-year-old Ana Pressley and 41-year-old Thomas Hillard were in a vehicle going southbound on Stiney Road. At Highway 321, a northbound semi-truck crashed with the passenger vehicle.
As a result of the collision, both Prssley and Hillard sustained fatal injuries. No one else was said to be hurt. Right now, additional details are unavailable.

The reason I wanted to call attention to this crash is to see if any locals or possible witnesses could help shed light on some odd information I’ve seen in the news. The details I’ve seen state that the victims were in a vehicle going southbound on Stiney Road. But when I look up images of the intersection, the road appears to travel northwest/southeast from the right side of northbound Highway 321, and it appears to stop at the highway.
So did the news just mean to say they were going northbound? Were they attempting to merge off the highway onto the side road? Are the images I’ve seen misleading? I know this may come off like a nitpick, but sometimes inconsistencies like this can be a sign investigators aren’t taking the crash seriously enough. If nothing else, it would help to know whether or not the families affected by this awful event are at least confident they’re getting the whole story and that nothing important has slipped through the cracks.
