Kendall County, TX — June 2, 2024, Amanda Reyes Guereque was killed following a car accident at around midnight on Interstate 10.
Investigators said in preliminary statements that the accident happened on eastbound lanes of I-10 northwest of Boerne near Nelson City.
According to officials, 38-year-old Amanda Reyes Guereque was in a Chevy Cavalier reportedly parked along the right side of the roadway. Details suggest the vehicle was disabled and that the emergency lights were on. While there, a passing Ford Expedition apparently went from the left lane to the right and crashed into the back of Reyes Guereque. As a result, Reyes Guereque was killed. The other driver apparently was not hurt.

Authorities said that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. It wouldn’t be surprising if that were true. This hour of day has a lot of drunk drivers on the road. I’ve had hundreds of cases involving drivers who were over-served by bars and other establishments, and they usually happen between midnight and 3:00 a.m. It would certainly explain why a driver wouldn’t see someone with their hazard lights on.
Ultimately, though, it’s up to thorough investigations to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the crash to find out why it happened and whether or not anyone is responsible. Hopefully authorities have been more thorough since their initial investigations, as the little information I’m seeing here would no doubt just leave a grieving family with unanswered questions.
