UPDATE (October 9, 2023): Further information from County officials identifies the victim killed in the truck accident as Alyssa Puente. Right now, the crash is still under investigation.
Houston, TX — October 6, 2023, a woman was killed following a tow truck accident at around 2:40 a.m. along the North Freeway service road.
Harris County officials said they were called to the area along the I-45 service road near Cypress Station just off the intersection of Cypress Creek Parkway (F.M. 1960).
Details at this time say that there was a preliminary incident which left a vehicle stuck along the grassy median. A tow truck was at the scene, reportedly with its lights activated, to remove the vehicle from the ditch. Somehow, a car approaching the scene ended up colliding with the wrecker.
As a result of the collision, a woman in the vehicle that hit the tow truck sustained fatal injuries. There did not appear to be any other confirmed injuries. It appears at this time that the tow truck was in travel lanes at the time of the collision. The cause of the crash remains unconfirmed, however.
