Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Most recent available information says authorities are waiting for toxicology test results on both drivers. It would not surprise me if this is simply standard procedure following any serious accident like this. Even an afternoon crash warrants looking for clear evidence. I’ve handled plenty of wrongful death cases against bars and restaurants over-serving people at all business hours of the day. Any competent investigators would include alcohol as part of their investigations even if it doesn’t seem likely.
But to be clear, I’m hoping that’s just part of a larger investigation into this crash. I haven’t seen authorities bring up any other possible factors they’re looking into, and hopefully that’s not a sign they’re overlooking anything. Tire blowouts, medical emergencies, road defects, mechanical issues—common or not, the families affected here deserve to know they’re getting the whole story.
