Guadalupe County, TX — August 9, 2025, a man was injured due to an alleged drunk driver accident just after 1:00 a.m. along Farm to Market 464.
According to authorities, a 47-year-old man was traveling on a northwest bound Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Farm to Market 464 at the Interstate 10 northeast bound frontage road intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that a southeast bound Toyota 4Runner occupied by a 21-year-old man attempted a left turn at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic at the intersection. A collision consequently took place between the front-end of the motorcycle and the right side of the Toyota. Authorities state that the person who had been behind the wheel of the Toyota had allegedly been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck.
The motorcyclist reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The man from the Toyota suffered minor injuries, as well, reports state. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

When I see reports of late-night crashes like this one, I can’t help but think about how quickly a normal drive can turn into something life-changing. A motorcyclist on his way through an intersection has every reason to expect the other driver will yield. But when alcohol is suspected, the story becomes less about a traffic mistake and more about the chain of choices that set the stage for the crash.
One of the most important but often overlooked questions in cases like this is, “Where did the driver get their alcohol?” If the 21-year-old accused of driving under the influence had been drinking at a bar, restaurant, or other licensed business beforehand, and he was already showing signs of obvious impairment, then that establishment could share legal responsibility. Texas dram shop law recognizes that businesses have a duty not to overserve, and when they ignore that duty, they can be held accountable alongside the driver.
It’s not always obvious, but many drunk driving crashes can be traced back to overservice. Was this young driver drinking at a bar where no one stepped in to cut him off?
