Smith County, TX — April 12, 2024, Alicia Gurrusquieta was injured in a motorcycle versus car accident shortly after 8:15 p.m. along S.H. 110, Troup Highway.
According to authorities, 21-year-old Alicia Gurrusquieta was traveling on a southbound Kawasaki motorcycle on Troup Highway in the vicinity south of Faulkner Road when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound Kia Forte occupied by a man and a woman ages 26 and a 7-year-old boy on Troup Highway attempted a left turn onto a private driveway at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to southbound traffic. This resulted in a collision between the front-end of the motorcycle and the front-right corner of the Kia.
Gurrusquieta was severely hurt as a result of the wreck; she was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. All three people in the Kia received minor injuries, as well.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
