UPDATE (June 10, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify some of the details pertaining to this accident. According to these reports, 27-year-old Alexix Ruben Perez was traveling in a northbound Hyundai Tucson SUV on East Freeway in the vicinity about a half of a mile north of Clinton Drive when the accident took place.

Reports state that, for as yet unknown reasons, the SUV failed to properly control its speed, crashing into the rear-end of a trailer in tow behind an 18-wheeler. The collision caused the SUV to veer to the right and off of the roadway, coming to a stop after also crashing into a tree where it apparently caught on fire.

Perez suffered reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the accident and was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details are not currently available. The investigation is ongoing.
