Accident Report

May 13, 2026, Alexia Guerrero was injured as the result of a car accident at around 3:02 p.m. along Kings Way.

Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened just off Veterans Boulevard/US 377. It appears that 26-year-old Alexia Guerrero was in a Toyota Corona traveling eastbound on Kings Way. A Dodge Ram was going southbound when it reportedly failed to yield to the Toyota. As a result, the vehicles collided.

Due to the crash, Alexia Guerrero was seriously injured. Authorities recommended charging the Dodge driver for failure to yield. No further information about the accident is available at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

This might seem straight-forward since authorities blamed a driver for failure to yield. However, the cause for that mistake can vary quite a bit—both in terms of responsibility and complexity. It could be something as common and simple as a driver looking at their phone or not looking both ways before trying to make a turn. Or, it could be something highly unusual, like missing signage or some kind of medical emergency. It’s important that victims and families know investigators are looking into all possible factors and not just jumping to the easy solution.

I’ve seen countless examples of authorities issuing charges or citations based on surface-level information. Meanwhile, the victims and families affected by the crash needed far more evidence to support their path toward a more comprehensive resolution. That’s when independent investigators often have to come in and pick up the slack so nothing important slips through the cracks. Maybe that isn’t necessary here, but my hope is that whoever handles this crash takes the time to cover all the bases and consider all possibilities thoroughly.

Do you think that’s reasonable, or am I just being overly cautious? Let me hear your take in the comments.
