Jasper County, TX — September 9, 2023, Alexander Thomas Burnett was injured in an alleged road-rage accident around 9:15 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 96 in Jasper County.

Sources report the victim’s motorcycle was southbound on U.S. Hwy. 96 when it moved from the outside lane to the inside lane to pass a semi-truck. At that time, a Dodge Ram 4500 allegedly also merged behind the motorcycle, passed the semi-truck, merged back into the outside lane, sped past Mr. Burnett, and then jumped in front of the motorcycle.

Officials say the motorcycle attempted an evasive maneuver and merged into the outside lane, but was forced back into the outside lane in order to avoid a collision with a slower-moving car. The motorcycle then reportedly lost control and overturned.

Mr. Burnett purportedly suffered serious injuries in the accident. No other injuries were reported.

Police report they are working with witnesses and video footage in order to investigate the exact factors that led up to the crash, but they suspect road rage.
