Bexar County, TX — March 30, 2025, Alex Atenco, Alyssa Diaz, Omar Atenco, and another person were injured in a car accident at 9:15 p.m. on F.M. 1560.
According to authorities, 22-year-old Omar Atenco and 23-year-old Alyssa Diaz were traveling in a southbound Dodge Challenger on Farm to Market 1560 at the Galm Road intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound Honda CR-V occupied by a 72-year-old man attempted a left turn onto Galm at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. A collision consequently took place between the CR-V, the Challenger, and a southbound Yamaha motorcycle occupied by 26-year-old Alex Atenco.
Alex Atenco and Alyssa Diaz each sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Omar Atenco and the man who had been bhind the wheel of the CR-V suffered minor injuries, as well, reports state. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When a turning vehicle collides with oncoming traffic, the first explanation often centers on a failure to yield. But the real causes—and the full picture of what happened—can be far more complicated, especially when multiple vehicles are involved and several people are hurt.
Did the authorities thoroughly investigate the crash?
In a multi-vehicle collision like this, reconstructing each vehicle’s movement is essential. Did investigators measure the scene to confirm the timing of the turn, the speeds of the southbound vehicles, and the sequence of impacts? The intersection layout, points of impact, and final rest positions can all reveal whether the turn was simply misjudged or if something else affected the driver’s decision-making. Without that level of detail, important clues may be missed.
Has anyone looked into the possibility that a vehicle defect caused the crash?
A sudden steering, brake, or acceleration problem in the Honda could explain why the turn was initiated at the wrong time. Similarly, a braking or stability control failure in the Challenger or the motorcycle could have prevented them from avoiding the collision. Mechanical inspections are often skipped after the vehicles are cleared from the roadway, but without them, any defect that played a role will likely go undiscovered.
Has all the electronic data relating to the crash been collected?
Every vehicle here could hold valuable information. Event data recorders in the Honda and Challenger might capture speed, throttle position, and braking inputs before impact. The motorcycle may have aftermarket electronics or GPS that could show approach speed and maneuvering. Combined with traffic camera footage or nearby business surveillance, this data can provide a clear timeline of events. Acting quickly is key—digital evidence doesn’t last forever.
When several lives are affected in a single crash, it’s not enough to accept the most obvious explanation. The full truth often lies in the details that are easiest to overlook.
Takeaways:
- Multi-vehicle collisions require precise scene reconstruction to confirm each driver’s actions.
- Mechanical or electronic failures in any involved vehicle can affect the sequence of events.
- Event recorders, GPS logs, and camera footage can clarify the timeline and causes.
