Grand Prairie, TX — August 17, 2024, Ailin Lopez and Vielman De Leon were injured following a car accident at around 1:30 a.m. along Jefferson Street.
According to officials, the accident happened in the area of Jefferson Street and Highway 161.
Investigators said that 23-year-old Ailin Lopez was in a Toyota Camry facing westbound on Jefferson Street. 36-year-old Vielman De Leon was in a Toyota Tacoma also going westbound. The vehicle reportedly collided, resulting in De Leon sustaining serious injuries while Lopez’s injuries were described as moderate.

Additional details can’t be confirmed at this time, though authorities mentioned looking into alcohol as a possibility. That could be simply because it’s such a common factor this early in the morning. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers for over-serving people that get themselves or someone else hurt, and the accidents in those cases were usually late at night or early in the morning. So frankly, it would be irresponsible if authorities didn’t look into alcohol as a possibility. It remains to be seen, though, what the evidence has to say, so it’s best to avoid jumping to conclusions.
