People often think car accidents are straight-forward just because they’re common. That’s absolutely untrue. They can involve all kinds of unique challenges, and victims and families sometimes are left looking for answers if authorities move on to other responsibilities without actually investigating the accident.

I had a case a while back, for example, where the investigating officer left a report incomplete, leaving the two drivers to argue over who was to blame. We were brought onto the case, and within the week we had found a nearby business with a security camera that caught the crash on video. That seemed like a detail authorities should have looked into first, but they completely overlooked it.

I’ve been doing this for over thirty years, and oversights like these are more common than folks realize. It’s why sometimes a serious crash is best handled by independent investigators who can actually dedicate the time and tools needed to get answers. Perhaps authorities here have been more thorough and have represent both sides of the story adequately. It wouldn’t be unusual, though, if that required further investigations.
