Longview, TX — June 5, 2024, a driver was injured following an 18-wheeler rollover accident at 3:45 a.m. along East George Richey Road.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened near the intersection of East George Richey Road and Harley Ridge Road.

According to officials, a 46-year-old man was behind the wheel of a Mack truck tractor-trailer going westbound along George Richey. Conditions at the time were apparently very rainy. While rounding a curve, the 18-wheeler lost control, veered left, and overturned off-road. As a result, the driver had serious injuries. No one else appeared to have been involved.

While there might not seem to be anything unusual surrounding this accident, it’s important to take early reports with a grain of salt. 18-wheeler wrecks can be challenging to investigate, and some details can slip through the cracks. For example, the rollover itself is something that may not have received enough attention. It’s a common issue with commercial trucks that they’re not designed to withstand their own weight during a rollover. As a result, the cabin can be crushed, and drivers may be seriously injured or killed when drivers in a safer truck likely would be okay. Maybe nothing like that happened here, but did authorities ever take the steps to rule out that sort of possibility?
