Marion County, TN — July 26, 2023, one person was killed and one was injured following an 18-wheeler accident Wednesday afternoon along Highway 150.
According to initial details released about the crash, it happened at approximately 3:00 p.m. along Highway 150 off the corner of Mayfair Avenue.
It appears from statements by authorities that the incident involved an 18-wheeler that had been going along the highway. That driver reportedly told authorities the truck lost control because its brakes “went out.” As a result, the 18-wheeler crashed into an oncoming car before going off-road and hitting a house.
Due to the collision, a 56-year-old man riding in the car hit by the semi succumbed to fatal injuries. The 49-year-old woman driving the car had to be flown to a hospital in what was called critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
At this time, authorities have yet to confirm if the brakes failed or if some other factors contributed to the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
