Accident Report

June 7, 2026, one person was injured following an 18-wheeler hit-and-run accident at around noon along Riverside Drive.

Officials said that the crash took place at the intersection of Riverside Drive and San Bernardo Avenue. Details suggested that a Chevy and an 18-wheeler somehow crossed paths and collided. Reports say that the 18-wheeler allegedly left the scene but was found nearby.

The Chevy driver had apparently minor injuries due to the accident. Authorities recommended the truck driver face charges for the accident. No further information is available at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I can’t say I know more about what happened here than what’s in the news. In my experience, though, drivers who flee accident scenes don’t typically do so unless they made a mistake of some sort. Sometimes it’s drunk driving. Other times it could be another reckless driving error in a long history of reckless driving. The fact the alleged runaway driver here was in a commercial truck not only raises red flags about what the driver was doing but if there were known issues behind the scenes that an employer ignored or failed to notice. Was this just an isolated, unpredictable situation? Or were there signs something like this was bound to happen? Investigations should be able to answer those questions.
