Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

A crash this chaotic is bound to leave behind a complex investigation scene. It can be important to follow up with authorities and make sure they can actually handle that sort of challenge. Sometimes, authorities lack the time, training, or equipment to sift through a fiery truck wreck scene. That can allow important details to slip through the cracks. Road markings, vehicle defects, electronic logs, signs of hit-and-runs, cargo shifts, etc. As such, it may end up that independent investigators need to look things over here. That might just confirm everything police already know, but it might also catch important details that otherwise could have slipped through the cracks.
