Authorities claiming that a truck made an unsafe lane change tells part of the story, but why did that happen? How does a supposedly trained professional make what seems like an easily avoidable mistake? Was it just an isolated bad decision, or could it be this was the result of more serious issues?

Let me give an example of what I mean. I had a case a while back involving a truck driver who made a serious mistake. What really stood out to us was it seemed like the driver did everything wrong. Was the driver not trained properly? As it turned out, no, they weren’t.

Records from that driver’s employer showed they completely rushed the training process because they were just desperate to get trucks on the road. What should have taken hours and miles of driving, they rushed through it all in about 30 minutes. They just didn’t give a damn about the risks, and people got hurt as a result.

So what could have just been an irresponsible driver was actually a company that was sending out unqualified, dangerous drivers onto the roads. If something like that slips through the cracks, how will the problems be addressed? That’s why I try to remind people that reading details about crashed like these rarely ever provides the whole story. I can only wonder what other details could come to light if investigators looked into what all led to this crash.
