Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With authorities seeming to blame a driver for failure to yield here, things may seem pretty open-and-shut. However, it’s important for victims and families involved in an accident to have as much evidence telling their side of the story as possible. Insurance companies have teams of professionals dedicated to avoiding responsibility, and their tactics don’t begin and end at the whims of the police. It’s important there are as little gaps in the story as possible so there’s no room for blame-shifting. If authorities conducted a thorough enough investigation on their own, that’s good. It’s just not something anyone should ever take for granted.
