It’s easy for people to jump to conclusions with preliminary details like these, but the fact remains that current statements in the news are not likely telling the whole story. As much as an apparent wrong-way crash can raise serious red flags, there could be unusual circumstances to consider.

Here in Dallas, for example, there was a time where one of our major tollways saw an unusually high number of wrong-way driving incidents. A research team started digging into things, and it turned out that the “Do Not Enter” warning signs were installed too high. Crews lowered the signs, and lo and behold, the number of wrong-way drivers went down.

I’m not saying that happened here, but that’s why it’s best never to jump to conclusions. At the end of the day, the evidence needs to be able to speak for itself, and that’s not likely to happen with mere preliminary investigations from the authorities alone.
