Gaston County, NC — December 5, 2023, an elderly woman was killed due to an accident with a FedEx vehicle along Brownstone Court.
Investigators with the Gastonia Police Department say that the incident occurred as the woman, identified only as an 83-year-old, was referred to as a “nightly walk.” Somehow, a FedEx delivery vehicle hit her along the roadway. It’s not clear where exactly the woman was in relation to the roadway, and authorities have not confirmed any particular contributing factors.

With the info above in mind, I’m certainly not looking to jump to any conclusions. But with the news saying this woman goes on these walks regularly, one has to wonder what was different this time that it ended in tragedy. Was this just a terrible, unavoidable situation, or was there a mistake that took this woman’s life?
